Sneak Peek: Yet Another Cushion

Yet another cushion today, can you tell they are one of my favourite things to make at the moment!

Massive apologies for the slightly dodgy photos, my internet connection is so temperamental at the moment. I have to blog quickly!

Sneak Peek: New Cushion

I managed to finish another project today and thought I would share.

It was going to be a quick way of testing out a few decorative ideas but I really like how it has turned out.

(Somehow this photo has got a bit stretched)

Silly But Sweet

Just wanted to quickly share some slightly silly but very sweet things I found this weekend.

Some 'Willy Wonka' chocolate. Not quite as fun as the chocolate in the book would be but yummy anyway!

Yes, this really is Betty Crocker chocolate frosting flavoured lipbalm! I'm not sure if this is something easily found in other countries but this was the first time I had ever seen it in the UK. Not as good as the real thing but still fun

Quarter of the way there

I'm already 10 days into my challenge of not wearing trousers for 40 days. I've actually really enjoyed wearing dresses I haven't taken out the wardrobe in months. And the weather has definitely been on my side, spring finally feels like it's here!

Day 9
Dress: Primark, Cardigan: George, Belt: charity shop

Best face of the challenge so far! Thought I would try something a bit silly for today's photos, constant photos of me in my kitchen doorway probably aren't the greatest idea. Is this any better though?!

 Day 10
Dress: H&M (I think!), Headband and earrings: birthday presents

Think this might be my favourite outfit so far. I felt really pretty all day but still felt super comfortable all day. Win!

Day 11
Hoodie: H&M, Skirt: H&M, T-shirt: Reading Festival

Wow, doesn't someone look tired here! I completely forgot to take a photo of myself until pretty late, hence the half asleep eyes. Weekends are definitely for lounging around though!

So what have I learnt so far? I pull some seriously awkward poses in front of a camera. Most of my wardrobe comes from the same few shops, mostly bought on a very small student budget. But it's just laziness that makes me wear the same things all the time, this challenge has actually made me look through my wardrobe!

For the next 30 or so days I promise to: be less awkward (I think it's getting better!) and to take pictures with nicer backgrounds (I have to apologise for all the messy house backgrounds so far). I sort of learning about good outfit posts as I go along, I hope to have mastered them by day 40!

P.S. There isn't a day 12, it's another pyjama day!

It Feels Like Summer Already

Today was a stunning day in Brighton. Actually, it was hard to believe it's still only March and summer is quite a way off yet.

Brighton Pavilion

Pavilion Gardens (and the Brighton Museum)

There was a brass band playing in the gardens this morning which was lovely. Slightly random things like that tend to happen quite a lot in Brighton!

A new little discovery! Every Saturday (and soon Wednesdays), the Brighton Farm Market is open. There were lots of local producers; butchers, jams, honey, chocolates, fruit and veg, cakes. I could have bought enough food to last me a month. Locals should definitely give it a visit (Diplocks Market, North Road, website

I also came across this really cool project in Tidy Street. The electricity consumption of the street is being recorded daily over four weeks and compared to the Brighton average. But the best bit? It's being recorded on the road along Tidy Street. Find out a bit more here. I'm hoping to pop back towards the end of the project to see how they did!

Enjoy your weekend!

Watch this space

So we are almost a whole term into Indie 3.0 already! Time is flying by but I'm sort of managing to keep up this time. The projects are getting left behind though, it's a bit hard to do them on the train to work!

But it's really made me think about loads of things (maybe too much, my head is constantly whirring) and I think there might be a few exciting changes around here pretty soon...

Watch this space!

Still No Trousers Here

More outfit posts from my challenge (not sure what I'm on about? Find out here), hopefully everyone isn't getting too bored of them already!!

Day 7
Jumper: Primark, Skirt: H&M

Today was one of those days where I would usually pop on my skinny jeans and a jumper! Busy day at work ahead = need for comfy clothes

Day 8
Dress: Primark

Dresses for the Weekend

So I'm a few days into my 40 days of dresses challenge and thought I would catch you up on some more outfits.

Day 3
Dress: Miss Selfridge, Cardigan: H&M

Another hilariously awkward photo from me here. Just a casual day at home today so comfort was the main idea.

Day 4
Dress: H&M, Cardigan: Topshop, Belt: Primark

Day 6
T-shirt: Topshop, Skirt: Primark (buttons added by me)

No comments on the awful posing please! I wasn't ready for the photo at all but it actually turned out to be my favourite one taken. I'm back at work after my holiday so it's a bit easier to wear skirts and dresses now.

Day 5 is missing (did you notice?), for very simple reasons. I spent the whole day in pyjamas or my running gear which are 1) the only type of trousers I'm allowing myself for this challenge and 2) images no-one needs to see!

40 Days

I've decided to give up trousers. And now I feel I need to explain this a little better! When I started my current job 9 months ago I was so excited about not having to wear the boring black trousers and shirt that was my old uniform. Finally all those pretty skirts and dresses would get to be worn. Except they haven't. I slipped into a comfortable routine of trousers and jeans every single day.

So for the next 40 days (well the last 2 and the next 38) I will not be wearing any trousers. The dresses and skirts will be worn with pride! Thank you Lent for providing such a handy time period.

I've also been meaning to have some outfit posts on here for a while so hopefully this will help give me the incentive to do that. Starting with now...

Day 1: Denim skirt (H&M), Shirt (H&M), grey t-shirt (Primark)

Wow, do I look awkward here! I promise over the next few days/weeks I will a) find better locations for my pictures and b) work on looking happier in the photos

Day 2: Denim skirt (H&M), Top (American Eagle), Cardigan (Topshop)

This photo was actually taken completely accidentally but I think it kind of works. If you ignore the messy flat behind me...

Maybe I shouldn't have chosen my week off work to start this, all I want to do is wear my comfiest clothes that probably don't really work for outfit posts. Next week I'm back to the grindstone and I promise the outfits will get prettier!

A little free time

I read about about a hundred magazines a month, there's the usual girly glossies, sewing magazines, general craft magazines, running magazines. I can't even go to Hobbycraft without getting the magazine they produce every now and then!

So, in an effort to justify buying them really, I am going to do more than just flick through them. Free gifts will be used (and in most cases made), blogs and books and music and films that are endlessly recommended will be found, new techniques will be tried. You get the idea!

The pile of ripped out pages, free patterns and cross stitch kits is rather large already! But in an attempt to stay on top of it, here's the free gift from Cross Stitcher magazine this month. It's a compact mirror case that was really quick and easy to make.

Look out soon for some more magazine related fun, the pile of potential projects is only going to get bigger!

Sometimes it's the simple things in life

It was my man's birthday today and he decided very early he wanted cupcakes for breakfast. So I cheated a little bit and made some packet ones. They might not have been the most fancy, or looked the best I've ever made but they tasted so good!

Wow, you can tell I really wasn't awake when I made these! I promise pictures of better looking cupcakes soon.

Spring Sunshine

Me and my man visited a local nature park (Tilgate Park in Crawley, highly recommended if you live nearby!) so thought I would share a few pics.

There was a little petting zoo; normal farm animals and a few randoms including some alpacas!

It's been so nice to have a few days to enjoy the spring sunshine! Especially as they are already forecasting rain by the weekend...
